The mandate

In order to mark the arrival of a new company on its premises, the Régie des installations olympiques (RIO) wanted to provide quality window coverings adapted to its needs. The challenge was to find a solution that covered all the windows uniformly without jarring with the building’s unique architecture, and to smoothly implement this proposal.

The solution

We installed 527 tilted, motorized solar shades that used Somfy's Animeo IP control system. T-Screen KoolBlack^TM fabric was installed with a dark side facing the exterior, and a pale side facing the interior. The fabric’s KoolBlack^TM technology helped to maintain visual uniformity when viewed from the outside as it appeared invisible. It achieved this without compromising any thermal performance properties. Finally, all aluminum components were painted with the same finish as the aluminum mullions of the curtain wall for better concealment. This acted as a disguise and gave the impression that the ensemble was unified.
